new to Uptown

Pinoli opened this year in Uptown Minneapolis, where Amore formerly was located. The restaurant features Italian cuisine, but of course we focused on the pizza. We were surprised by the flatbread-like style, but how did everything taste?

Fisherman's

Marinated seafood, whipped bacalao, arugula

Highlights: fresh lemon flavor

Lowlights: chewy squid, too much flavor complexity

Braised Mushroom

with ricotta, garlic, pecorino

Highlights: good presentation and aroma; mushroom flavor is solid

Lowlights: low amount of cheese

Fennel Sausage

with mozzarella, tomato sauce

Highlights: excellent aroma; fennel shines through

Lowlights: everything else is lackluster
